He is a very entertaining character with many iconic lines but cannot be a magnificent baddie due to lacking enough intelligent feats. But is he too sympathetic?

Can someone explain why he's in that category? I watched the thing where Spongebob destroys the universe and it was just Spongebob involved in that, Squidward was nowhere to be seen. I can't think of any other reason Squidward would be in the category.
