Agent Buck Trout, best referred as Agent Trout, is the main antagonist of Cartoon Network's 10th animated feature film, We Bare Bears: The Movie, and is the overarching antagonist of the We Bare Bears series.
Trout is a corrupt government agent who serves as the commander of National Wildlife Control, who desire to restore the "natural order" by separating the bears and targeting and imprisoning dozens of innocents bears to victimize them to unlawful imprisonment and torture. Trout also serves as the arch-nemesis of Grizz and his two brothers, Panda and Ice Bear, and was the former boss of Officer Murphy.
Agent Trout was voiced by Marc Evan Jackson, who also played Bradford Buzzard in the DuckTales 2017 reboot.
Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- While genuinely intimidating, Agent Trout is an incredibly intelligent villain, and is in great shape for his age. This combines with Marc Evan Jackson performing an excellent job in voice acting Agent Trout and giving him a bone chilling voice. Additionally, Agent Trout is mostly played for dark humor for most of the movie.
- Among most of the villains in We Bare Bears, Agent Trout's moments of villainy is incredibly epic, which is due to having a number of heinous, yet epic and iconic lines throughout the movie, such as:
- Saying "Why should I? Humans have been dominant predators since the beginning of time and this is the close I will ever get to hunting you. So long bear," to Grizz while giving a peace sign and a genuinely hilarious smirk on his face, and even made an intimidating and chilling grin before saying the words, "So long, bear."
- Trout showing the three bears the vision of Panda's phone, revealing how he knew where they were going to Canada in the first place after Grizz and Panda's heartbreaking argument made it easier for Trout to find them.
- Trout persuading the bears in a thrilling, fast and furious car chase.
- Having a decent number of laughable moments, such as his defeat of getting punched in the face and having a donut shoved into his mouth by Officer Murphy. That is not even limited to that, however, as Agent Trout manages to make even more laughable moments in the movie by:
- Shoving a donut in Officer Murphy's mouth after scolding the latter from quite immaturely drinking coffee and eating a donut instead of continuing his job, as well as shoving a croissant in Officer Murphy's mouth after Trout himself breaks into the internet celebrity animals' party to make an attempt to arrest the bears, only for the internet celebrity animals to attack Trout by surprise, while Officer Murphy enjoys the party and takes a selfie of Trout with his cellphone, prompting Trout to shove his own cellphone into Officer Murphy's mouth.
- Being ironically scared by Grizz, Panda, Ice Bear and the rest of the formally imprisoned bears confronting and surrounding him, prompting Trout to attempt to back them off in a fit of desperation, cowardice and frustration, and after that failed, Trout attempts to escape the bears' wrath, and upon realizing that he was tricked into running into a cage that entrapped him, Trout is horrified and humiliated.
- Trout and his units revealing their phone about to the Bears on Pizza Rat's post that they have followed him through a vision of a relatively hilarious image.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- Agent Trout deceived everyone in the city about the three bears (Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear) being dangerous and has them shipped to a bear reserve after Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear were on trial due to accidentally causing a blackout.
- He ruthlessly mocked the three bears' human friends (especially Chloe Park, a little girl) for siding with the three bears. Plus, he is even potentially above harming and insulting children as adorable and innocent as Chloe Park and the Poppy Rangers.
- He constantly abuses Officer Murphy and even abused his own soldiers as evidence where he berates those for their failure and incompetence to successfully capture the three bears, treating them nothing more than pawns.
- He finds the bears and puts them in his bear reserve where he has been capturing various bears throughout the years, keeping them in awful conditions as seen by the bears's saddened facial expressions.
- When the bears attempt to escape, he leaves them to die in a wildfire, which was caused by the electric fence in his reserve. Thankfully, however, Officer Murphy stands up against Trout by shoving a donut up his mouth, like how Trout did so to Murphy, and eventually arresting him as punishment of his crimes and attempted animal mass murder, saving the bears's lives.
