All For One is the overarching antagonist of the My Hero Academia franchise.
Possessing the All For One Quirk, he used it to create an army of followers to which he planned to destroy the world in order to rule over it. In order to do this, All For One entered into a conflict with all One For All Users, the users of the Quirk he accidentally created when confronting his brother.
He is voiced by Akio Otsuka in Japanese and John Swasey in English.
His Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- He is shrouded in mystery due to his sheer lifespan and his role in the creation of the League of Villains.
- His theme song has a mysterious and terrifying aura, resembling his ambition to become the Symbol of Evil.
- Akio Otsuka and John Swasey do an excellent job portraying his menacing and evil personality.
- While it never mitigates his evil actions, All For One has a genuinely tragic background of growing up in poverty alongside his brother Yoichi after the death of his mother.
- He is a resourceful individual, using everything in his vicinity to succeed in his goals, even including stealing his mother's Spear-like Bones Quirk to survive, and using a copy of Rewind to give himself time to succeed in his goals of possessing Tomura.
- His views on ordinary people's apathy to help others until a hero intervenes is mostly spot-on, using this as his reasoning to rule over the world to make them dependent on him.
- Carefully manipulated Kotaro Shimura into believing he is a friend, and stole Tenko's original quirk and giving him Decay instead, resulting in him killing his entire family and manipulating Tomura into becoming his vessel.
- His Quirk, All For One, allows him to steal and bestow Quirks from others, using to collect several powerful Quirks over the years, including the Longevity Quirk which allowed him to survive to the present day, and the Hyper-Regeneration Quirk to negate any damages All Might made on him.
- Gave All Might a fight for his life three times: the first time which led to All Might losing most of his stamina and power, the second which de-powered him despite both of his victories, and the third one where he won and nearly killed All Might, if only for Bakugo's interference.
- Is a clever strategist due to his centuries of experience, thus coordinating Aoyama's information to nearly kill All Might and kidnap Bakugo, as well as coordinating the breakouts of multiple supermax prisons all across Japan to increase his army.
- All For One is shown to care for Yoichi as evidenced by him seeing his vestige and begging Yoichi not to leave or seeing him one final time.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- As the founder of the League of Villains, he is ultimately responsible for all of their antagonism towards Class 1-A throughout the events of the series from the USJ incident onward. Even when Tomura continues his actions on his behalf, it is ultimately due to All For One's mentoring.
- His goal of becoming the Demon Lord is only due to him refusing to see the true message of his favorite comic books.
- Killed several of the early Quirk Users for petty reasons, including the Luminescent Baby who All For One killed just for "stealing his thunder".
- Mistreated and imprisoned Yoichi, his only family, to control him.
- When the resistance against All For One freed Yoichi, All For One killed him for defying his purpose of being his "possession".
- After killing Kudo and failing to steal One For All, All For One wiped out his entire bloodline out of spite.
- Threatened Yuga Aoyama and his parents by giving him Navel Laser due to being born Quirkless, leading to Aoyama becoming broken by the time he was discovered as the U.A. Traitor.
- Adopted Tenko Shimura not for any altruistic reasons, but to mold him to wanting destruction according to All For One's ideals so that he would agree to become possessed by him.
- Sadistically tried to broadcast his murder of All Might to the entire world only to break their hope and into accepting him as their true Demon Lord.
- During the Final War Arc, when up against Kyoka and Fumikage, he uses needlessly brutal methods in order to kill them, specifically targeting Kyoka solely because she's the weakest of his opponents, and when he fails on the second attempt, he mocks Hawks for his failure to save them from complete harm and mocks the two students for attempting to defeat him.
