~ Arthur Mitchell's words to a vast majority of his victims before he kills them.

Arthur Mitchell, better known as the Trinity Killer, is the main antagonist of the fourth season of the Dexter TV series.

He was portrayed by John Lithgow, who also portrayed Lord Farquaad in Shrek.

What Makes Him Entertaining?[]

  • He is portrayed very well by John Lithgow, perfectly shows his charming and psychopathic personality, and stands out as one of his best performances yet and it is fun to watch him play out his role as a ruthless and highly intellgient serial killer.
  • Despite being the main antagonist of season 4, he is considered to be better than the final antagonist, Oliver Saxon, and even by some, the brother of Dexter, Brian Moser.
  • He is Faux Affable, and his persona is as a devoted family man, church deacon, beloved teacher, community volunteer, and model citizen.
  • On several occasions, he has gotten away from Dexter despite being cornered.
  • Seems to be affable and nice to mothers and kids but shows his true nature as an obsessed sadist behind closed doors, making him even more manipulative and cunning at first glance.
  • Calls a random man a "c#nt" several times until he is beat up as form of punishment for his latest murder.
  • He has a very funny moment where when Jonah says he is not grateful for him, and the wife says she is grateful, he responds by saying "Shut up C#nt"
  • Despite his despicable acts, he was enraged when Dexter threatened to tell the public he was a pedophile, indicating some standards against them.
  • Finding out the true location of "Kyle Butler" who is Dexter Morgan, a blood analyst, he confronts Dexter in an intimidating way by grabbing the card that says his identity around his neck and announcing "Hello, Dexter Morgan"
  • He uses as much strength as possible to threaten his family and even Dexter at certain moments and proves to be the most intimidating he can be in later future episodes.

What Makes Him Detestable?[]

  • He is a prolific serial killer who has killed around 280 of children, females, and men. Firstly, burying a ten-year-old in cement, slicing the femoral artery of a woman and draining her blood in a tub, forcing a mother to jump to her death, and beating a father of two to death with a claw hammer
  • He is very abusive to his family as he locks his daughter in the closet when he doesn't want to give her freedom, regularly berates his family into loving him and being respectful, and even snaps Jonah Mitchells finger when he damages his car windshield.
  • Despite being spared by Dexter so he could do his ritual, he killed Rita in cold blood, and in front of her child, Harrison Morgan.
  • His actions ultimately result in Jonah Mitchell killing his mother while his sister committed suicide, due to their moms declining mental state.
