Billy Loomis is the secondary antagonist of the Scream franchise.

Initially presented as the boyfriend of Sidney Prescott, the main protagonist of the franchise, he will be revealed as the one of the two Ghostface killers who committed killing spree in Woodsboro and the true killer of Maureen Prescott, alongside his friend Stu Macher.

His was portrayed by Skeet Ulrich. While disguising his voice, he was voiced by Roger L. Jackson. In-costume scenes as Ghostface were portrayed by Lee Waddell and Dane Farwell.

His Qualities[]

What Makes Him Entertaining?[]

  • For starters, being with Stu, one of the Ghostface killers from the first film makes him an icon of the horror genre.
  • His actor, Skeet Ulrich does a good job of representing him and manages to give off a "creepy awesome" atmosphere after his reveal.
  • The fact that the narration of the film deliberately made him suspicious makes his reveal very shocking because one might think that he is just a false red flag.
  • Regardless at the validity of his tragedy, he loves his mother and the maternel absence he experienced is described with sympathy.
  • He appears to be rather charismatic and intelligent, having managed to convince his friend Stu Macher to commit a series of murders with him and more or less succeeds in convincing Sidney that he is not the killer.

What Make Him Detestable?[]

  • He is incredibly petty and delusional having killed Maureen Prescott because he makes her responsible for the tearing of his family but on top of that decided to psychologically torment and try to kill her daughter Sidney Prescott even though she has absolutely nothing to have with the maternal abandonment that he experienced.
  • He is very sadistic, taking great pleasure in killing people who are completely innocent.
  • When talking about the murder of Maureen Prescott, some lines of dialogue from him and Stu imply that they both raped her before killing her.
  • He is rather misogynistic blaming Maureen Prescott for having torn his family apart but he does not blame his father when it was he who decided to sleep with her, which will push his mother to leave the family home. It is worth noting that he uttered several misogynistic insults to Sidney and her mother after his revelation.
  • After Sydney managed to hide from him and Stu following a moment of inattention, he ended up having a villainous breakdown where he started breaking all the furniture and objects around him and started swinging an anthology of insults.
