~ Bishop Mozgus |
Bishop Mozgus is a major antagonist of Berserk, being the main antagonist of the Conviction Arc.
He is one of the Chief Inquisitors of the Holy See, who uses the idea of God and his beliefs as a way to excuse his and his disciples' acts of torture and murder against "heretics". He would eventually face Guts and commit actions which would lead to the rebirth of Femto in the Physical World.
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- His has a unique character design, with his smooth, almost flat face that was the result of years of prostration, where he harshly kneeled and slammed his face into the floor.
- He has many laughably evil moments, especially with his over-the-top fanatical behavior and facial expression.
- He is a competent fighter with immense power, becoming a formidable foe to Guts. His Pseudo-Apostle form with angelic wings is pretty intimidating and cool as well.
- Despite how evil he is, he could feel sympathy for people who have had truly horrid lives, like the poor, disabled and abused.
- He is a charismatic and affable leader to his fellow Holy See members, especially to his own disciples. He raised his disciples as his own children and taking them under his wing. After seeing his disciples die, he cries tears of blood and vows to avenge them.
- His battle with Guts is very intense and brilliant.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- He and his disciples brutally tortures and kills everyone he see as heretics in extremely painful way, such as putting them in iron maiden or crushing them with breaking wheel, while he watches them dead with a sadistic glee.
- Despite loving his disciples and seeing them as children, he corrupted them and making them fanatic torturers just like him.
- He is extremely delusional, showing no remorse for any of his crimes and trying to justify them in the name of god.
- When a woman begged him to give food to her starving child, while he agreed to give the child food, he later tortured and killed the woman for believing this would make her faith stronger.
