The Brain is the main antagonist of Season 5 of the 2003 animated series Teen Titans. He is the founder and leader of the Brotherhood of Evil, which aspires to take over the world.

He was voiced by the late Glenn Shadix.

His Qualities[]

What Makes Him Entertaining?[]

  • He is shown to be an extremely intelligent mastermind, being competent enough to outwit and trap multiple titans.
  • He has an Evil is Cool presence, being described as an "intellect personified and evil incarnate" and shown to be a card-carrying villain who puts the word "evil" in his organization's name.
  • Glenn Shadix does a great job voicing him.
  • He has an intimidating and cool-looking character design.
  • As a literal brain, his machine pedestal talks for him, appearing based on Stephen Hawking, no less.
  • He is the mastermind behind the Brotherhood of Evil and the driving force of the fifth season's ongoing conflict.

What Makes Him Detestable?[]

  • He captures the Doom Patrol and has them tortured for five months, subjecting Mento to months of painful electrocution and trying to crush Elasti-Girl to death in order to force Mento to admit defeat.
  • He tries to have the Doom Patrol and the Teen Titans killed in a large thermogenic explosion.
  • He attempts to destroy all of Jump City with the quantum generator just to spite the Titans.
  • He tries to have all the young heroes of the world, including toddlers, flash frozen to serve as trophies, and eventually tries to wipe out all his allies and enemies alike along with a large section of Paris. The fact that he doesn't care if his allies get killed contradicts him claiming they are his friends.
  • He is very arrogant, as shown when it never occurs to him that any of his plans could ever fail because he's too convinced of his own genius, so if any do, he's caught off-guard and without a backup plan, forcing him to improvise, which he's not very good at doing. This along with his vileness prevents him from being a Magnificent Baddie.
  • Overall, his vile deeds exceed even that of Brother Blood and Slade, although he is not on bar with Trigon, who is an interdimensional demon.
