Captain Chantel Shannon DuBois is the main antagonist of DreamWorks' 24th full-length feature 3D animated film Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. She is a sadistic, thrill-seeking animal control officer who enjoys killing animals and mounting their heads on her wall as trophies. She is the arch-nemesis of Alex.
She was voiced by Frances McDormand.
Her Qualities[]
What Makes Her Entertaining?[]
- She's an incredibly skilled, strong, and brilliant badass. being able to track down animals by smelling them and strong enough to run through walls.
- She's highly intelligent and manipulative, being able to track animals down via footprints or the smell left behind at the scene by them, cleverly escape from prison, and heal her injured henchmen via singing.
- On such note, she offered a highly detailed assessment at the taste of Alex's footprint despite it being more than 12 hours old, and even the ability to map out the specific scent of each individual animal in the gang.
- She has many comedic moments.
- Easily one of the most threatening main antagonists, she has a constant "Evil is Cool" demeanor complimenting her notably serious and foreboding presence.
- Her performance by Frances McDormand is great and very intimidating.
What Makes Her Detestable?[]
- She is an incredibly sadistic and cruel person, as ever since she was young she loved killing animals and has many heads of animals as trophies on her wall.
- Even after the gang made it outside of her jurisdiction, she continued following and attempting to kill them regardless of such fact.
- In the climax, she tried to kill Stefano out of spite for helping rescue Alex, and has a villainous breakdown while attempting to do so out of rage for the latter repeatedly getting away from her. She also suffered another villainous breakdown after Alex throwing her down to the cage where she then proceeded to roar like a lion.
