Chef Hatchet is the secondary antagonist of the Canadian animated franchise Total Drama.

He is a cook, the co-host of the titular reality show and right-hand man and best friend of Chris McLean, whom he assists in creating outrageous challenges for the contestants for their sadistic pleasures.

He was voiced by Clé Bennett in the first five seasons and by Devan Mack in the sixth and seventh seasons.

His Qualities

What Makes Him Entertaining?

• He has an intimidating presence due to his aggressiveness and is occasionally played for laughs, such as his recurring gag of cross-dressing. His fight scenes with Izzy are also quite entertaining.
• He occasionally shows concern for the safety of the contestants and disapproval of Chris' dangerous challenges, and has displayed other standards as well, like not giving Heather a score for reading Gwen's diary to the world.
• He has a few moments of positive interactions with the contestants, particularly Owen who is the only camper that likes his food.
• In the 2023 reboot, he sheds a lot of his negative qualities, being more often concerned about the contestants' safety.

What Makes Him Detestable?

• He often takes part in throwing life-threatening challenges with Chris for the campers and enjoys seeing them suffering.
• He is capable of cooking decent food, but purposely cooks disgusting meals for the contestants.
• He is extremely harsh, overbearing and confrontational toward the contestants, especially when in charge of the challenges.
• He forces DJ into an illegal alliance to toughen him up in return for half of the prize money if he won.
