~ Dave's catchphrase when he sees Jack- his most iconic quote. |
Dave Miller, real name William Afton, is the main antagonist/deuteragonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's fangame series Dayshift at Freddy's. He is a serial child murderer who offers the choice to the player to kill children with him. While in Dayshift at Freddy's 3 he gets split into two characters, this page will only be about his real world counterpart, eventually known as DaveTrap.
His Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- He is one of, if not the most iconic FNaF fan characters of all time, and is by far the fan favourite in the DsaF community.
- He has many comedic moments, with many of his lines being immortalized through memes. Some of his most iconic lines include:
- "Why hello there, Old Sport."
- "PICK UP THE FAX" and "GRAND CANYON."
- "There's only one place for us to go: VEGAS, BABY!"
- "Bleeding, bleeding, pain, vast discomfort, pain, vast discomfort! I'd feel my heart being torn apart if I had one"
- "Don't be shy, Old Sport. This is far from the first time I've seen your bedroom!"
- "I may have shot a man. I also brought the beers!"
- "I'm gonna strangle some toddlers with a string of sausages! I'm so f*cking creative!"
- "Hello there, Old Sport! Have you abducted them yet? [...] How about now?"
- "Follow us, kids! I'm totally not a child murderer!"
- "I'M EGGPLANT DAAAAVE!"
- His theme song, while not written for DsaF, being a repurposed Rugrats: Search for Reptar song, adds even more comedy potential to his funnier scenes, and is associated with him to the point that looking at the original song's YouTube comment section, it is hard to find any comments not mentioning Dave.
- His relationship with Jack is agreed upon to both be incredibly funny and quite emotional at points.
- Quite a few of him and Jack's interactions involve one comically flirting/getting fed up with the other, resulting in most of the DsaF fandom shipping the two.
- There are quite a few genuinely heartfelt moments between the two, with just one example being in the Pure Evil ending of DsaF 3, where Dave realises that him giving Jack eternal life was a mistake, and genuinely apologises, with Jack being made to kill him by Henry.
- He has quite the sympathetic backstory, with the third game revealing that Henry Miller manipulated him into becoming the killer he is, attempting to kill him, only to keep experimenting on him when he repossessed his own body.
- While he can act comedically stupid sometimes, he has quite a few intelligent moments, such as recognizing that the Colerado Phone Guy (Steven) was planning a sting operation, as well as his engineering skills.
- Overall, Dave is widely regarded as one of, if not the most interesting version of William Afton.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- He has committed many, MANY acts of child murder, killing dozens to (possibly) hundreds of kids, including Jack's sister Dee.
- He is the reason that Jack becomes a killer himself.
- He has quite a few (comically) dumb moments, such as constantly asking Jack if he's abducted the kids yet despite the fact that they're right in front of him.
- He gathered an army of every possessed animatronic just to kill one person (Jack).
- He loses quite a few of his redeeming qualities and becomes less comedic (although not fully) after his transformation into DaveTrap. Additionally, he becomes more of a coward.
Trivia[]
- He is a rare cause of an Entertaining Detestable due to the fact that his heroic flipside version was voted Pure Good and not his feral version in real life due to being purely villainous.
