Dimentio is the main antagonist of Super Paper Mario, the third installment of the Paper Mario series.

His Qualities

What Makes Him Entertaining?

• His "jester" theme in general gives him both a cool design, a unique set of attacks, and a charismatic personality, not unlike Kefka Palazzo.
• He is a genius master manipulator, making him one of the most compelling Super Mario villains:
  • He manipulated Count Bleck into bringing about the Chaos Heart as part of his plan.
  • He was to manipulating the game's heroes all along, so they can defeat Count Bleck for him and let him take the Chaos Heart himself.
  • He successfully brainwashed Luigi into his pawn.
  • He was able to convincingly pretend to be a harmless foe in his first appearance.
• Even if it doesn't detract from his heinousness, he has several comedic and charming moments. He frequently tells jokes as he's fighting the heroes (e.g. "Ah! Once again we meet, like two angry, burly dinosaurs with terrible indigestion!"), he usually maintains a gleeful attitude throughout the game, and his little quirks like always signing off with "Ciao!" add to his appeal to the audience.
• He is very hammy in general, which goes hand-in-hand with the above-mentioned comedic moments.
• Even when he screws up, he is usually able to get back on his feet and continue as planned anyways.

What Makes Him Detestable?

• He comes across as smug and arrogant a lot of the time, often taking sadistic glee in his crimes and rubbing his victories in the heroes' faces.
• He is extremely callous and cruel, even mocking others for kindness and love. As such, he hardly if at all tries to mask his clear lack of good qualities.
• After his plan is initially foiled by the heroes, Dimentio has a villainous breakdown and then tries to destroy the multiverse simply out of petty spitefulness.
