Dr. James Sheridan is the overarching antagonist of Meta Runner, serving as the overarching antagonist of Season 1 and 2, and the main antagonist of Season 3.

He was an ex-TAS Corp scientist and the mastermind behind Project Blue, a mysterious project where he planned on creating an A.I called T.A.R.I. (stands for Turbo Artificial Rapid Intelligence) to assist Meta Runners in order to avoid getting fired by Derek Lucks. His dream was to use the project to become known in the gaming industry, but after an accident that ended the project prematurely, he then abandoned this dream and went down a path of spiteful insanity. He is also Tari’s creator and arch-nemesis.

What Makes Him Entertaining?

• While it doesn't explain or justify his actions in the current day, he did create the meta runner arm and was not credited for it, which is still relatable to some of the audience.
• He is an excellent hacker able to hack Skybreakers so that everyone Evelyn Claythorne killed got sent to his server.
• While it is not the real Derek Lucks he is torturing, it still makes him entertaining as he is giving Derek Lucks what he deserved.
• His personality of "Showing the world what he has planned" is fun to watch.
• He is not nearly as hateable as Evelyn Claythorne, due to lacking the dimwittedness and not being as envious or petty as her.

What Makes Him Detestable?

• He tortures Masa, Lucinia and Belle turning them into his brainwashed puppets.
• He plans to do the same thing he did to Masa, Lucinia and Belle to all other Meta Runners.
• He is a coward, as when he dies by being executed by his control bugs, he yells about how Marco is "destroying his work", which is a fitting punishment for his own misdeeds.
• He has a false tragedy as he takes out his anger on Meta Runners who mostly have nothing to do with TasCorp, and is motivated by his ego in the final season.
