Dr. Edgar George Zomboss, better known as Dr. Zomboss, or simply Zomboss, is the main antagonist of PopCap Games' Plants vs. Zombies franchise.
He is the genius ruler of the Zombies and the arch-nemesis of Crazy Dave and the plants.
He was voiced by Russell Brand in the promotional videos for Garden Warfare.
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- He is the strategic genius leader of the Zombies who leads his minions on many conquests.
- He is a hammy and comedic villain thanks to the light-hearted nature of the franchise, with Laughably Evil moments such as having a hologram of him brushing his teeth in the boss podium in Plants vs. Zombies 2 or making parodied lyrics of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up".
- He is a decent boss towards his zombies, showing respect and congratulates them whenever they are close to victory. There are also moments where he's only disappointed rather than getting mad when they failed him, only grounding them at his worst and knowing they can succeed in the last minute.
- In Modern Day, he tried to stop Dave from re-eating his taco which could cause time unstability, which shows he has some standards.
- He is overall a competent and humourous antagonist with his own quirks and cool moments.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- As the leader of the Zombies, he leads his army to kill the plants and eat the homeowners' brains.
- In "Garden Warfare 2", he tried to alter the Earth's orbit to rob of the plants' photosynthesis, which counts as attempted genocide. Not only that, it would also kill all life on Earth.
- While he is a nice boss in the first two games, the later games seemingly decreased his care for his zombies, being more cruel to them. This was significantly shown in Battle for Neighborville, which was carried over from his comics counterpart.
- His comics counterpart suffered many villainous breakdowns/temper tantrums and undignified defeats.
