The criteria for Entertainingly Detestable characters.
Overview
For their entertainment
- The character needs to have intelligence
- They need a neat personality
- They need cool moments to make them likeable, such as how epic, charming or funny they are.
- They need to have a clear goal in mind
For their detest
- Even if they're not villainous, they need to commit an action or actions too severe for them to be Near Pure Good.
- They are not liked much on either side of morality in universe, especially when people know their true character.
- They are intended to be hated, or at least controversial in comparison to the majority of characters in the story that it would shatter them from being magnificent and can never be Love-Exalted due to their role in the story.
Author intent
- Even if the author intended for them to be Hate Sinks or Magnificent Baddies, their word alone is not applied here, unless if the stories the characters are show that they are not Entertainingly Detestable.
