Benedict Wigglestein Uno, Jr (better known as Father) is the main antagonist of the 2002-2008 action Cartoon Network series, Codename: Kids Next Door.
His Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- His backstory of being forced to make tapioca for his father 24/7 is admittedly rather sympathetic. The traumatic memories that have been shown to stick with him into adulthood of being force-fed broccoli also heavily indicate that he was mentally abused by Grandfather.
- The fact that his motivation for turning to villainy and choosing to follow in his father's footsteps was to gain the acceptance he never received growing up gives him some genuine insecurities.
- While he is taken more seriously than most other villains in the series, he still isn't above having his occasional comedic moment or two. Such as joking with Numbuh 86 about Numbuh 19th century's cluelessness about the current era (specifically asking the latter if he wanted to watch a cartoon on television just to see his reaction) and getting into a fight with Mr. Boss, Stickybeard, and Gramma Stuffum over who was the rightful winner of the title of villain of the year.
- He has a sense of honor, as he didn't hesitate to join forces with Sector V and the other villains to retrieve the final box of Rainbow Munchies from Knightbrace who was planning to destroy the box, as well as willingly sharing it with the others afterwards.
- While he despises his nephew and is generally abusive to his adoptive children, he still genuinely cares for his older brother, Monty. With the reason he chose to go into hiding when Grandfather took over being out of fear for his father rather than a lack of love for Monty. Benedict even willingly accepted his brother's offer to redeem himself stand up to their father together, only backing out due to sheer apathy for the situation. And his love for his brother is never subverted throughout the series.
- Maurice LaMarche’s ridiculously hammy and deliciously sinister performance.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- Many of his actions are too vile to be overlooked and/or enjoyed. The following two being the most notorious of his villainous deeds:
- Permanently delightfulizing Sector Z and turning them into The Delightful Children From Down The Lane, effectively stealing 5 children from their friends and family forever.
- Tampering with the course of the annual Tubathon to have all of it's participants fall into a giant cake tin so he could cook them all into a giant cake and serve them to his children.
- His smugness and egotism constantly cause crucial details in his schemes that could (and often do) cost him his victory to go completely over his head, which is often the culprit for his many failures. Operation: Z.E.R.O. even has Grandfather chew him out for this.
