Grem and Acer are major antagonists in Pixar's 12th full-length animated feature film Cars 2 and Acer is a cameo character in its 2017 sequel Cars 3. They are a pair of Lemon cars who are from the AMC Gremlin and Pacer crime families and work as some of Professor Zündapp's henchmen (although they secretly work for Sir Miles Axlerod).
Grem was voiced by Joe Mantegna while Acer was voiced by Peter Jacobson.
Their Qualities[]
What Makes Them Entertaining?[]
- They are shown to have a multitude of comedic moments, such as Acer being smacked by a bathroom stall after Mater leaves it, Finn spraying Acer with a fire extinguisher, Acer being slung into the logo for a sushi restaurant, Acer driving through a plane and landing in a truck providing lavatory water for the plane, and their defeat of Holley causing them to be slung into a bar, destroy all the tables and spill drinks on the patrons, causing the patrons to beat them up.
- They seem to have a genuine friendship with each other, as they are almost always seen together in the movie and make sure that they are by each other's side.
- Both of them have a great performance done by their voice actors.
- They are fiercely loyal to Professor Zündapp, never leaving his side no matter how many times they get defeated.
What Makes Them Detestable?[]
- They are way too violent and sadistic to be Magnificent Baddies, as shown when they helped Professor Zundapp kill both Leland Turbo and Rod Redline in brutal manners, as well as when they blew up the engines of World Grand Prix racers with the EMP camera, tried to kill Lightning McQueen and later tricked Mater into going to McQueen's pit so Zundapp could activate a bomb and kill both Mater and McQueen.
- Both of them are completely bereft of redeeming qualities, with their "tragedy" of feeling undervalued due to being laughed at alongside the other Lemons being too petty to justify anything.
- In general, both Grem and Acer are openly shown to be jerks to everyone around them and not hide behind a veneer of politeness.

- Both with their bosses Zündapp and Axlerod are the only Cars ED's.
