Griffith, also known by his demonic name Femto, is the main antagonist of the Berserk franchise.

He is the founder and leader of the mercenary band known as the Band of the Hawk. As a mercenary, Griffith fought in the Hundred Year War and restored peace to the wartorn kingdom of Midland and was once a close friend and ally of Guts. After being tortured, however, he used the Eclipse to sacrifice his entire band and later was reborn as Femto, the fifth and final member of the God Hand. He is the arch-nemesis of Guts and Casca.

In Japanese, he has been voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa and Takahiro Sakurai as an adult, with Minami Takayama and Junko Takeuchi voicing them as a child. In English, he has been voiced by by Kevin T. Collins and Steve Staley as an adult, and Veronica Taylor and Barbara Goodson as a child.

What Makes Him Entertaining?[]

His deep three-dimensional complex characterization has been compelling to fans for decades. To briefly summarize, he is a fallen hero who is defined by his philosophy of realizing one's dream, with this very commitment to his dream being what turned him evil as time went on that were initially based on his dread over the horrors of his past involving countless deaths, only to be set in motion in becoming the very thing he was traumatized by. All in all, he shows that not all Pure Evil villains need to be one-dimensional, and that complex villains do not need to be morally grey.
Both of his voice actors do a great job voicing him and as well as portraying his charismatic personality and giving him an awesome and dark performance when he turns into Femto. Special thanks goes to Kevin T. Collins, who is said to be the best voice actor for Griffth and Femto and as well as being great giving him a charming presence which intrigues most viewers and fans.
He has cool aesthetics that stand out in the public, being his human form that has long white hair and blue eyes and his God Hand form is supposed to look neat too.
His skills with his fighting style are neat and his powers are unique.
He poses as a messiah role model figure that so many in the world of Berserk look up to. He made a public show out of defeating Ganishka to appear as a savior.
He is a brilliant strategic genius who has showed his wits both on the battlefield and in politics. Back when he was just a mercenary leader, he made a name for himself in the kingdom of Midland by winning several important battles. After he became Femto, he was able to manipulate the people of Midland into seeing him as a messiah figure, knowing how to make good pragmatic moves as the ruler of Falconia.
He is a charismatic charmer to the public and women.

What Makes Him Detestable?[]

While he is not a hate sink like other villains in the series, he has made himself arguably the most hated character due to his infamous treachery.
He is a mass murderous traitor to not only his mercenary army but most if not all humanity for the sacrifices he makes in his maddening selfish ambition.
His loss to Guts leaving the Band of the Hawk made him beyond petty to where he becomes anything but the great amazing figure the public perceives him as.
He is a unrepenting manipulative spiteful rapist to the women that not only loved and cared for him but idolized him like how someone would be in awe of a god, namely Casca.
His taunts on Guts going for the kill on him are frustrating to watch in support of Guts' rightful anger on him, by being the guy who has made his life far more ruined than he already was.
Being idolized by the public does not make him less hateable as many people don't know his true character.
Kidnapped Casca at Elfheim by taunting Guts and destroying the tree, sending Guts into despair.
