Homura Akemi is one of the main protagonist of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie film series. She first appeared as a mysterious magical girl in Madoka Kaname's nightmare as she fought Walpurgisnacht. Despite her main goal being to protect Madoka, her desire is so much of a self-destroying obsession that leads to her becoming a demon to give Madoka the life she believes she wants.
She is voiced by Chiwa Saito in Japanese and by Cristina Valenzuela in English dub of the anime.

- She is a tragic and three-dimensional character who suffers from the burden of facing the fate that most of her fellow comrades face and trauma from losing her best friend and love interest to the same creatures that ruined her life.
- While this putted her in a immoral light from the start, it is very satisfying seeing her sentence every Incubator, even Kyubey, to a Fate Worse Than Death, due to their constant manipulation of young girls and ruining their lives by turning them into witches.
- She is quite intelligent and skilled fighter as she manages to get one step ahead of her enemies and is able to put up a fight for many of her foes and use grenades and guns every well to shot her enemies as well bringing up a shield.
- Her English voice actor Cristina Venezuela, is considered to be the definitive Homura Akemi and does an awesome and memorable performance of her mysterious and cynical personality, which won her an award. Known for being the "Queen of Magic", Cristina Vee has a wide range of voicing many female characters in anime and cartoons those themes are known for having fantasy, however Homura Akemi stands out as one of her most iconic and memorable performances, alongside with Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon, Sakura Matou from Fate Stay/Night, and Shantae from the titular video game series.
- Due to her role as one of the main protagonists, she is very well-known and popular as most of her fans like her mysterious appearance and feel sympathy for her plight., while also being complex due to suffering from the burden and fate most magical girls face.

- She is very pitiful and broken to be a Magnificient Baddie, and she is also very violent like when she attacks Bebe that causes Mami Tomoe to intervene.
- In Rebellion, she is considered to cross the Moral Event horizon by taking over Madoka's godlike position of power to become a devilish figure that remakes the universe in her own image and make everyone forget their memories of what happen to fix the universe to her own standards.
