~ Jax putting the blame on Gangle for the van falling in the chocolate river in "Candy Carrier Chaos!". |
Jax is one of the five deuteragonists of the 2023 Australian-American animated series The Amazing Digital Circus. He is one of the players who are trapped in the Amazing Digital Circus, though unlike others, he's often an egocentric sadist with a monotone voice who enjoys seeing others suffering and doing other crazy things for his own amusement.
He was voiced by Michael Kovach, who also voiced Niles in SMG4.
His Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- Michael Kovach did an amazing job to voice the character, just as he voiced amazing characters like N from Murder Drones or Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel.
- He is a "love to hate" character since his unapologetic actions, his jerkassery and overall shameless attitude are what makes fans to love the character, he often provides incredibly sarcastic remarks, doing crazy things on a whim such as pulling nasty pranks on his friends and also comes up with a bunch of funny insults and retorts due to how much he couldn't care less than to do things for his own enjoyment. Even Gooseworx herself stated Jax is her favorite character.
- While this is ambiguous, it's implied he is somewhat sad about what happened to Kaufmo and missed him, which gives him some depth for his character.
- In a Blink-And-You'll-Miss-It scene in Candy Carrier Chaos, where a funeral for Kaufmo's abstraction is hosted, he showed some care for him, showing a bit of sympathy for his abstraction before leaving.
- He has keys to everywhere all around the game and in the circus map, which he shows a mischievous level in enjoyment with getting access all around the circus, and even seemed to enjoy playing a centipede's prank of Ragatha.
- He takes a brief moment of his time to have a genuine conversation with Pomni in Fast Food Masquerade, which even takes her aback, thought it may have been because he was exhausted from the "adventure", and he even had a pleasant conversation with Zooble.
- In a Blink-And-You'll-Miss-It scene in The Mystery Of Mildenhall Manor, he is seen rolling his eyes at Ragatha for saying how much the group cares for Pomni.
- Even though Jax was intended to be an irredeemable and egotistical character and deserves to be trapped in the digital circus as Gooseworx stated, many fans see him as quite enjoyable due to his antics and overall behavior, and they believe future episodes may give him character development, answering questions like if he's always a jerk, or his stay at the circus turns into the way he is.
- All of the comeuppances he's received for his rude behavior makes it all the more hilarious, from getting choked by Zooble in the pilot, to getting tied up bound and gagged by Ragatha for his sadism towards Gangle in the third episode, and to the point of being repeatedly punished by Gangle's "normal persona" at Spudsy's (as well as being given an idea in the suggestion box where Jax doesn't talk) in the fourth episode, humanizes him.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- He is very petty and immature, extremely rude and careless, an vituperative hedonist with a warped sense of humor, and overall a callous jerk to everyone all around him, often being quite uncaring and provocative towards the fact that other people besides himself are trapped in the Digital Circus, and constantly pursues his life as an avatar as sadistically as possible by being a resident bully and prankster who enjoys inconveniencing and joking at other people's expense for a kick and thrill of his since his hobbies involves annoying his fellow Circus mates, and even indulging in bloodshed during challenges.
- He makes fun of Ragatha by calling her "licorice hair" while making fun of her hairstyle (which got Kinger to agree with Jax much to Ragatha's dismay), and once called Kinger "who-ha".
- He bullies Gangle numerous times as his favorite victim for no reason throughout the series, examples include calling her a crybaby, stepping on her already broken comedy mask, pushing her after tricking her into thinking Jax would be a gentleman to let her walk first on a esculator, bossing her to drive too fast during a chase scene in the kingdom by calling her "submissive and agreeable), forcing her to ram into the bandits' truck and blames her for the cause of the truck falling into the chocolate river despite him being the one who forced her to drive through blackmailing tactics (and even though it was mainly Kinger's fault for causing the truck falling and not Gangle's), and outright says to her face that he prefers her to be sad rather than happy.
- Although it's to a lesser extent when compared to the former two, Pomni is often a victim of his abuse as well, as in the third episode he torments her over her nervous personality and always being on edge.
- He intentionally shoved Ragatha into a deep fryer just to spite Gangle.
- He even told Zooble to be quiet so Jax could hear the escalator when Zooble was baffled at the fact Pomni wasn't in the maze that was centered on looking for Pomni herself.
- Near end of "Candy Carrier Chaos", it's revealed that he let the Fudge into invading the Candy Kingdom, leading the population to be eaten presumably, thus making Jax a heartless nuisance who does evil acts for a sick cheap thrill of his own. Furthermore, while he did feel bad for a split second when hearing about Kaufmo's funeral, he immediately brushes it off and doesn't actually bother attending the event.
- In "The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor", he sucked an innocent ghost named Ghostly into a vacuum under the belief that they were catching ghosts, though one could argue that he was legitimately trying to play the game. Afterwards, he threw Gangle's comedy mask to determine which door was the scary one, prompting Kinger to go get it and dragging an unwilling Pomni with him, something he expressed no remorse over whatsoever. It's implied that this is ultimately what gave Ragatha and Gangle the idea to gag and restrain him for the remaining adventure.
- Earlier in the episode, he was actively trying to find ways to scare Pomni when finding out she's not a fan of horror media and for how easily scared she is (especially when it came to jump scares), all of which he does unprovoked with Pomni.
