Loki Laufeyson is a major protagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is the God of Mischief, the adoptive son of Odin and Frigga and the adoptive brother of Thor and Hela. A Frost Giant, Loki was adopted by the Asgardian Royal Family when his father Laufey left him behind as a baby.

Loki grew up having a relationship with Thor, although he was envious because he felt like he was living in his shadow. After finding out the truth of his origins, he engineers a plot to get rid of Thor and rule Asgard.

He was portrayed by Tom Hiddleston.

What Makes Him Entertaining?

• Tom Hiddleston delivers an excellent performance.
• His powers, skills and fight scenes are amazing.
• He has a great dynamic with his adoptive brother Thor.
• He has several comedic moments.
• He ends up fully redeeming himself in Thor: Ragnarok and helps Thor take down Hela. He also tries to kill Thanos rather than join him.
• His death in Avengers: Infinity War is played for sympathy, when he was killed by Thanos.
• He is considered a genuinely tragic villain and is one of the most popular characters in the MCU.

What Makes Him Detestable?

• The main reason he can never be a Magnificent Baddie is because he gets humiliated too much by the good guys in highly embarrassing ways.
• He tried to kill Thor several times and wanted to take over Asgard.
• He places Erik Selvig and Hawkeye under his control, brainwashing them into following his orders and attacking their allies.
• He killed Phil Coulson while escaping from the Helicarrier.
• He lead an army of Chitauri to attack on Earth under Thanos’ orders with intention of conquering it.
• He tells the Dark Elves how to get to Jane Foster in order to get the Aether, thinking that Kurse would confront Thor, but this ends up causing the death of his adoptive mother Frigga instead.
• He faked his death, secretly brainwashed his adoptive father Odin, exiled him to Earth and takes over Asgard while disguising himself as Odin.
• He called Black Widow a "quim", which was extremely misogynistic.
