Megatron is the main antagonist of Transformers: The Game, a 2007 video game adaptation of the live-action 2007 film of the same name. He also serves as the the overarching protagonist of Transformers Decepticons.
He is the extremely powerful, destructive, and warmongering leader of the Decepticons who started a civil war on Cybertron which turned the planet into a wasteland and he is now hell-bent on destroying humankind and the Earth. His cause has led to him coming into conflict with his former brother-in-arms and archenemy, Optimus Prime.
While his villainy is a bit generic in both the Autobot campaign and Autobots (DS) due to them telling their own version of the film's plot, both the Decepticon campaign and Decepticons (DS) makes him more cruel and sadistic while his actions are more unique, allowing him to stand out much more.
He is voiced by Frank Welker, who also voiced the character in the original Generation 1 cartoon and 1986 Animated film and also voiced Soundwave in the original cartoon.
What makes him Entertaining?[]
- He was voiced by the legendary Frank Welker, the original voice actor of the character from the G1 cartoon and animated movie. Although one can argue that his preformance sounds cartoony, interestingly this preformance gives a more unhinged and absolutely deranged side of the character which works well for this particular incarnation of the villain.
- He has the same badass and intimidating design from the 2007 live-action film, while not 100% faithful to the original G1 design (the lack of fusion cannon as the main example), it does give the character a realistic and actually alien design which makes sense in-universe as the Cybertronians are actual aliens.
- Not to mention, the crown on his head truly makes him look like a mad emperor, which fits well with the character.
- He has a lot of memorable lines such as "Once I destroy the humans, and acquire the Allspark, you will witness the true meaning of terror!"
- Unlike most iterations of the character, he actually wins in the Decepticon Campaign of the console game and the Decepticons game as well.
What makes him Detestable?[]
In general[]
- He launched a devastating civil war on Cybertron in order to conquer it, claiming incalculable casualties on both the Autobot and Decepticon side, eventually leading the the Allspark being launched to space and the destruction of Cybertron itself, for which he didn't show any remorse for.
- All in all, he is a power-hungry and megalomaniacal psychopath and a cannibal who oly cares about ultimate power and is perfectly fine with destroying the entire universe if it does not bend to his will.
- He rules over the Decepticons with a literal iron-fist and while he isn't shown abusing his subordinates heavily like in most continuities, he doesn't care for them as shown when he blatantly disregards some of his minions' deaths and overall seeks to conquer and destroy anything he wants for himself.
- He is a hardcore social-darwinist, disregarding any signs of weakness no matter who shows it, even when it his most loyal soldiers show it, insulting them and even killing them to purge the weakness from the Decepticons.
- In the Autobot campigns, he pretty much does the same things as he does in the 2007 live-action movie.
- Killing several humans during the Battle of Mission City in search for the Allspark.
- Ordering the Decepticons to kill the Autobots.
- Killing Jazz.
Consol Exclusive (Decepticon Campaign)[]
- Before their final battle, he tried to lure out Optimus Prime, who was protecting Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes, by causing mass chaos and destruction on Mission City, destroying buildings and killing hundreds to thousands of people via crushing them with his feet or mutilating them using his flail.
- He tried to murder every human in Mission City when fighting Optimus Prime who he had successfully lured out, killing several more innocents in the process.
- Brutally murdered Optimus Prime by pulverizing his head with his flail.
- He merged with the AllSpark and razed the Earth by turning all electronics into Decepticons, turning most of the planet into a burning wasteland and enjoying said destruction.
- He ordered his minions to kill off what's left of humanity, before presumably moving on to conquer the rest of the galaxy.
DS Exclusive[]
- He brutally killed Starscream for his betrayal (thought he definitely deserved it for gaslighting the Decepticons at thinking that he abandoned them out of spite when only did it to chase the AllSpark and for stealing both his leadership and the AllSpark for himself).
- He eats the sparks of his victims, as he told Jazz that he would have so much fun feasting on his Spark prior to killing him and he was even seen eating the Spark of the Create-A-Bot just because he was heavily damaged. His excuse for doing so was that reparations are a waste of resources, and that the weak only serves to benefit the strong.
