The Oogie Boogie Man, more commonly addressed as Oogie Boogie, is the main antagonist of Disney's The Nightmare Before Christmas franchise. As stated by his title, he is the bogeyman as well as the boss of Lock, Shock, and Barrel. He is also the arch-nemesis of Jack Skellington.
His Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- He is extremely theatrical and hammy whenenver he presents himself, even in his most villainous moments, he has a aura of charisma in how jovial yet remorseless he is.
- His intro song is incredibly catchy, iconic and timeless.
- Despite not being a talented gambler by his own admission, he nonetheless proves himself an excellent singer, chef and showman by having some serious sass applied to his baritone and exuberance to make him lively and enjoyable to watch and listen to.
- Having numerous comedic moments that makes him incredibly fun to watch, such as the retorts he makes, acting lustful of Sally's detached leg to the point of arrogantly preparing himself by moving his "hair" back and swagger walk up to it so he could fondle and tickle it before realizing that he was tricked, as well as slamming the table when he rolls snake-eyes out of anger before getting eleven.
- Having a constant "Evil is Cool" demeanor in all of his appearances that makes him a joy to watch (especially since he took over Halloween Town in Oogie's Revenge), as he well balances his own scale of vileness and sense of humor.
- Although quite adverse for the most part, he has a well-defined personality complimented by other appealing oddities.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- He is extensively sadistic, such to the point he was exiled from Halloween Town's city limits in response to his extraordinarily dangerous and cruel methods of "scaring" people, and has mocked Santa mercilessly.
- Pulling all his stops to kill Jack, Santa, and Sally, as well as torturing the latter two. It should also be noted he tortured Santa despite having nothing personal against him, as well as having intended to kill him from the beginning out of pure sadism.
- Not only does he encourage their sadistic behavior, he doesn't properly look after Lock, Shock, and Barrel. He is also stated by them to cook questionable recipes that could very likely have bad effects on their health.
