His Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- He has a handsome appearance.
- He has a couple of comedic moments, such as when he performs poorly in his plays and the Far Far Away Idol.
- Through his sheer charisma and ability as a master orator, he convinces the fairytale villains to join him in taking over Far Far Away.
- In the third film, not only does he become a greater threat and almost succeed in his goals, but he is also portrayed sympathetically to some extent as he grieved over losing his mother (which motivates his revenge against Shrek), was a laughing stock at dinner theater, and never had his own "happily ever after" (which is all he ever wanted).
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- He plotted to marry Princess Fiona so he could become king, and along with his mother attempted to force Fiona to fall in love with him, break Shrek up with Fiona and later kill him.
- He is very egotistical and arrogant, frequently boasting about his handsomeness and never acknowledging his faults and is prejudiced toward ogres.
- He tries to kill Arthur and rejects the advice from his speech.
- Wants to kill Shrek to rule Far Far away.
