Squidward J. Quincy Tentacles is the tritagonist of the famous Nickelodeon show SpongeBob SquarePants.
He's the next door neighbor of SpongeBob and Patrick and works at The Krusty Krab as the cashier.
He is voiced by Rodger Bumpass.
His Qualities[]
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- He has tons of comedic moments that make him enjoyable to which.
- Even though he is annoyed SpongeBob sometimes, he helps deeply cares for him (even though he doesn’t show it) and occasionally helps him like when he gave a jerkish customer who was yelling at SpongeBob (and even made him cry) for not giving him a drink that he didn't even ordered a taste of his own medicine.
- Another example is when he calls out Mr. Krabs for selling SpongeBob's soul to the Flying Dutchman for 62 cents (even after he stood up for him when the former was about to take him to the Davy Jones' locker as punishment for his extreme stinginess), this even made Mr. Krabs rethink his decision.
- He does get some sympathy in some episodes like in Ink Lemonade, and even in regular episodes, where he is the target of abuse from various characters, often for little to no reason at all, even if he wasn't being a jerk.
- He felt remorse for pranking SpongeBob.
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- In the episode "Little Yellow Book" he reads SpongeBob's work diary without permission in front of everyone without any remorse and when he finally "apologized" and have SpongeBob to forgive him by telling him that he only read his work diary, he reads his personal diary subverting what would have been a redeeming quality.
- In fact, Squidward in that episode was so bad it had a page on the Hate Sink wiki, but it got deleted due to a character being a jerk in one episode and not others being not allowed.
- He's a jerk to almost everyone in Bikini Bottom.
- He's a lazy worker who sleeps on the job sometimes.
- He lied about being injured so that Mr. Krabs could do whatever he wants, until he got exposed by the Krusty Krab security cameras in the episode "Accidents Will Happen".
- In the episode "Sportz" he tortures SpongeBob and Patrick with made up games made by him to cause horrific pain on both of them, however Sandy does give him Karma later on.
- In "Fools in April", he did a very cruel prank on SpongeBob to the point he made SpongeBob cry, which got many customers mad at him, with one even calling him a jerk. While he was hesitant but eventually tried to apologize to SpongeBob in the episode, it was still very uncalled for that Squidward pulled a mean prank on SpongeBob to begin with, not to mention that Squidward couldn't physically bring himself to say the word 'sorry'.
Trivia[]
- He's one of the rare few EDs to not be a villain.
