Teru Mikami is the deuteragonist of the final arc of Death Note. He is one of Kira's followers, selected by Light Yagami to become a proxy Kira during a time when the Kira investigation mounts heavy suspicion on Light.

What Makes Him Entertaining?

• Despite how twisted he is, his psychotic behavior and delusional view of the world is admittedly very charming.
• He has an epic theme song Mikami Concertino.
• His scene of killing people with Death Note is very iconic. Whenever he writes a name, he yells "Delete" very loud while swinging him pen intensely, and smiles lunatically after finishing writing, giving him a laughably evil presence.
• He killed Demegawa and his men for deviating from Kira's word, and killed a Sakura TV host to scare the Task Force.
• He is very intelligent and strategic, can think of everything Light thinks of and do his act before Light does.
• Unlike Light, Mikami is a genuinely sympathetic figure. He has been desiring justice since he was a child, but he was severely bullied at school and endured physical and mental abuse. The injustice he experienced shaped him a black-and-while view of the world and extreme hated towards evil, eventually making him a delusional killer like Light.
• He genuinely cares for children and has standards against chidren's bullying, not wanting them to endure the bullying he has experienced.

What Makes Him Detestable?

• His worldview is extremely lethal. He thinks any adult who commits any small crime deserves to be "deleted" so the good people can live. He also planned to "delete" lazy people and ones with a criminal record even if they do not commit crimes anymore.
• He mercilessly killed hundreds of people after Light sends him a Death Note, and later agrees to assist Takada's killing by sending Takada the criminals' name when Light orders him to send pages to her.
• After Takada was kidnapped by Mello, he arbitrarily wrote Takada's name on the real Death Note, not knowing Light had done this before, which ironically led to Light and his own downfall.
• He doesn't accept defeat with dignity, immediately goes panic after finding out he fails to kill Near and others, and has a huge villainous breakdown when he gets arrested.
