“ | I am Unicron. I am the darkest corner of your mind. I am the cruelty hidden in your heart. I am savagery. I am rage. I am hate. Every murder you imagine, every bleeding fantasy, every vengeance. Every repressed urge, every unrealized perversion. I am all of these. Every intelligent creature turns its tools to murder eventually. I am there, in the sweat and the blood, and the inertia of an action that once done cannot be undone. I am hunger. The energy released by a life extinguished is my food, strife the wine with which I drink it down. The geography of dreams deferred and love unrequited mirror the sublime hills and valleys of my brainwaves. I am the dense, unfathomable insanity of a possessed mind. Entropy, decay, death are things of the natural order—petty, corporeal facsimiles of my will. I am beyond such things. I am no mere force of nature. No phenomenon to be studied, codified, and circumvented by the inventiveness of lesser beings. I am the collapse of natural order. A formless, infinite nothing petty corporeal minds cannot imagine. Total annihilation. Peace in an endless emptiness the heart and totality of which I alone encompass. I am power incarnate. I am Unicron. And I live again. | „ |
~ Unicron explaining his power upon his resurrection. |
Unicron is the overarching antagonist of the Transformers franchise.
He is a giant robotic cosmic entity that consumes and destroys all reality around him. In the comics, he is the twin brother and arch-nemesis of Primus, the creator of the Transformers. He was also the master of the Fallen and formerly that of Galvatron.
He was voiced by the late Orson Welles in The Transformers: The Movie and Roger C. Carmel in The Transformers Season 3.
What Makes Him Entertaining?[]
- He is easily the most terrifying and intimidating villain of the series, as a god-like being devouring planets and moons in his path.
- Orson Welles and Roger C. Carmel both did an impressive job of portraying Unicron's menacing presence, especially with providing a sinister tone in his deep voice.
- His design and theme song also complement his overall frightening character.
- His unique superpowers, including creating new bodies and abilities for Transformers in return for their service as his heralds (as he did with Megatron/Galvatron and his troops).
- He is a master manipulator that gives others unfair deals and powers.
- It can be argued that his tormenting of Galvatron is well-deserved, given all the terrible deeds that Galvatron committed as Megatron.
- He has several memorable lines, like "That which does not become a part of me, shall become one with the void", "For a time… I considered sparing your wretched little planet Cybertron… but now, you shall witness… ITS DISMEMBERMENT!!" and "Destiny… you cannot destroy… MY DESTINY!!!"
What Makes Him Detestable?[]
- He is an absolutely evil entity determined to annihilate all life in the universe in order to find peace in a void of nothingness, consuming innumerable worlds and populations in the process.
- He enslaves and mentally tortures Galvatron to force him to destroy the Matrix of Leadership, the only thing that can destroy him.
- He wreaks destruction on Cybertron to spite Galvatron for turning against him.
- He has a villainous breakdown during his defeat, screaming that he cannot be destroyed even as Rodimus Prime unleashes the power of the Matrix from within his body.
- He is ironically tricked by Starscream into restoring his body, realizing his mistake only after Starscream betrays him and refuses to keep his end of the bargain.
